Nope.
Eat less, move more. Keep it simple.7 -

Calorie deficit4 -
Sorry, but nope. Just counting calories, but I can't complain. I've lost over 130lbs that way.4

Calorie deficit. Nothing more needed. Ridiculous rules and restrictions are only there to give people an excuse as to why they cannot lose the weight.5

Cals in Cals out is number one, resistance training and trying to get more protein in to retain lean muscle (also a slow rate of weight loss), cardio to earn more cals to eat.1

Eat less, but not so much less than I'm miserable.
Move more, but not so much more than I'm miserable.
Don't be in such a hurry that you starve yourself or burn yourself out with workouts. The more comfortable you feel with your diet and exercise the more likely you are to stick with it. Ideally you'll have these healthier habits for life so make them as enjoyable as possible.5 -
You can follow any plan/rules you want and successfully lose weight, as long as that plan or those rules create a calorie deficit, because that's how you lose weight.
But it's also a good idea to follow a plan or rules that involve well rounded nutrition.0 -
Whatever way is the most sustainable for you and allows you to maintain a calorie deficit.0

This. People can say calories in/calories out as much as they want, but it needs to be done in a way that is sustainable for the long term or it's just a soundbyte. Technically true, but not useful.3 -

Everyone needs to determine their own path/plan/rules for maintaining a calorie deficit over the long term.
Start with portion control. Add more vegetables. Note which foods keep you full, and those that you can't stop eating. Be aware of caloric dense & highly palatable foods1 -

As others say, the best plan is the one you can sustain for the long term. But ultimately it is still about calories.1

Any way you dress it up......it's calories in vs. calories out. That's because calories drive weight loss.
Example: low carb (mostly) eliminates a macro......be eliminating food, you eliminate calories.
Is it that you don't want to measure & log? Look up the No "S" Diet - No Snacks. No Sweets. No Seconds. Except sometimes on days that start with S (Saturdays, Sundays, and Special days). Keep in mind you want to keep some of these changes for maintenance or the weight will creep back up.0 -
