Citified or countrified

What are your roots? Were you raised in the city by tall buildings and lots of people or raised in the country with nothing but fields surrounding you? Did you enjoy where you were born and raised?

Just a fun little questionnaire.

I'm a little of everything. City, suburb, rural. I feel at home on the streets of New York and Atlanta, and also tromping through the woods in the Ozark Mountains.

Suburbs do kinda creep me out a little. All those houses look the same. Weird.

Country, but not as country as those around me. I kinda feel stuck in-between.

I moved around a lot. I was born in Seattle...when I was 5 we moved to a bedroom community outside of Denver...it kinda felt like you were in the country, but Denver was right there. In 2nd grade we moved to a small town in Nebraska...lots of farms around and whatnot, but we lived in town. It was nice because it was one of those towns you could just ride your bike all over the place and parents didn't really need to worry too much. We moved to Albuquerque when I was 12 and going into 7th grade...it's a medium sized city, but we have a lot of mountains around, so there are a lot of outdoor enthusiasts here...I live in a small village outside of ABQ now as an adult which is a collection of old family farms and whatnot, so it feels very rural and people have horses and whatnot...it's nice because it has the rural feel, but the city is right there for whatever we need.

Country boy. Still am even though I'm stuck in the city. Grew up on a farm for most of my ill gotten youth. Tractors, horses, cows, whole nine yards & didn't leave until I went to college.
Still own the family farm along with my brother though.

Grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY. We didn't live in a cookie cutter subdivision but bit further out in a more rural area. Near several horse farms with lots of space between houses.

Moved to a suburb of Rochester, NY for my first job. Got married and spent a year living on Coronado Island which I suppose is a suburb of San Diego. It was beautiful and idyllic.

Now I'm in South East Virginia and live in a cookie cutter subdivision with a tiny yard. I'm 15 minutes from 2 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 2 Home Depot's, etc. I like living near convenience, but I wish I had a bigger yard and more space between neighbors.

Grew up in Chicago on the very north side right across the street from Lake Michigan. We lived in four story building which were common in the neighborhood. I loved it and spent my summers on the beach or visiting the museums. Also my parallel parking skills are impressive. Then moved to San Diego so more beaches.

I moved back to the Chicago living downtown and hated it. It was getting too expensive and impersonal. Now I live in a small 'city' which is more like the suburbs just not the cookie cutter type. I do really miss good restaurants but I finally get to have my own garden and go for walks without inhaling exhaust fumes. Now we have trails, the beach, and the river to canoe on so I'm super excited about that.

I was raised right outside of DC and lived in or near cities for the first 30 years of my life. I now live on 20 acres in the middle of farm town nowhere and I can actually see the stars and hear more than traffic, horns, yelling, and sirens... and I'm loving every minute.
