I'm confused and need help. If I have a daily calorie goal of say: 1700cals and I consume 2000 BUT burn the other 300 from excercise, will this work to lose weight? Or do macros like fat and sodium and carbs matter too?

Yes, that will work. Macros are more personal preference, health, satiety, etc. Sodium has no calories and will not lead to fat gain.1

All that matters for loss is calories. Eat your goal, If you burn more, eat atleast half back. Fuel your activity, But id suggest practicing your macros. Hitting them and finding what your body works best with helps hugely longterm.1
