Casein Vs Whey

I've been doing some reading in regards to these 2 proteins. I read that Whey is easier to digest and it releases aminos a lot quicker, it also increases protein synthesis. Casein is way slower to digest and the sodium content may cause bloating so it's suggested to take it before bed time. Casein is also anti-catabolic, and is said to have excellent amino acid content. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Which do you guys prefer during and after a workout?

    I don't use casein, and I rarely use protein powder, but have WPI when I do.

    There's not really any need to be chugging protein during a workout, or immediately after - if you get enough from food, you don't need a supplement at all.

    I split it down the middle and use a whey/casein blend such as Quest or Trutein (my two favorites).


    It's really not worth overthinking protein supplementation (or any other supplementation, for that matter) unless everything else is 100% dialed in and on point. It's a very small piece of the big picture:
