Hi MFP friends,

I want to hear what you know about Omega 3's and Omega 6's.

Thanks,
Diane

Omega-3s are mostly found in fish and they're great for your heart, skin and nails, apparently. They also aid in losing weight but I can't remember exactly how. All I know is when I was eating tilapia everyday for a few weeks, my skin was sooo clear and soft (I have eczema).

World's Healthiest Foods sums it up so much better than I can.

We tend to have an imbalance of Omega's in our diet - too many Omega 6 fats, not nearly enough Omega 3's. To add Omega 3's, sort of like WHFood suggests, eat more salmon or supplement with a quality fish oil gelcap.

Great topic! Omega 3s are the good ones-nuts, fish. The fish HAS to be wild caught though. Farm raised fish has Omega 6 which is bad. I made up a little rhyme to help me remember which is good and which is bad:

    Omega 3 is for me.
Omega 6 I need to nix.

I know it's cheesey...It's the teacher in me!

I am no authority on them but I take fish oil because it is suppose to be good for joints and the heart.
