Question about Intermittent Fasting

I want to try intermittent fasting. For now I'm doing 14 hours of fasting and 10 hours of eating. My question is, do I have to strictly stick to that or does it really matter. Meaning if I go 15 hours fasting one day, 16 the next and 14 the next day, will it make any difference?

Do whatever helps you stay consistently within your calorie goals. Calorie deficit is what's important.

From what I've read it shouldn't make that much of a difference.

    It doesn't matter, really.

    I do 16:8 because:
    1. I have more time in the morning because I don't have to worry about breakfast
    2. I don't get hungry until 11am
    3. I prefer to save my calories to have a larger lunch and dinner

I understand that, and I plan on staying within my calorie goals. I wanted to try intermittent fasting because it seems like it's good for a lot of people

It shouldn't make that big a difference. You may want to try 1 day every week or 2 extending it beyond 16, but that's not necessary

If you're fasting for 15 or 16 hours, you're still consuming your food within the normal 10 hour window you have during your 14:10 days. Provided, of course, that the 9/8 hour window actually falls in the usual 10 hour window.

It doesn't matter. Meal timing is irrelevant in terms of weight loss (as long as calories are held equal).

I 'more or less' eat in a 16:8 pattern - not because I believe there's any magic to it, but because it works best for me in terms of satiety/adherence. I'm not usually very hungry in the morning, so I have a cup of coffee and don't eat my first meal until around noon'ish. Dinner is usually around 6:00 - 7:00 and I have an evening snack a bit after that. With all that said, if I wake up hungry for whatever reason, I'll eat something early; if I'm hungry later in the evening, I'll have my snack later. It doesn't matter if I eat my calories in an 8 hour window, a 4 hour window or a 16 hour window, as long as it's the same amount of calories. So I say 'more or less' about the 16:8 because for me it's a general pattern, not a hard and fast rule that can't ever be broken.
