It's been almost 3 years since I started, and today I came across an old candid pic that shows the difference even better than the "official" before pic taken by my trainer. I have to remember where I started so I don't go back. That's why I love my old pics. I would never in a million years think there has actually been this big of a change!

I worked with a personal trainer from day 1. Before I met with the trainer, I came to grips with the fact that I would need to make changes for the rest of my life. I wanted to make changes during weight loss that I felt I could sustain forever, no tricks or gimmicks.
I put my stats into MFP and ate at 1500-1700. Once I had my eating plan established, I quit logging after about 3 months but continued eating the same for 2 more years. I walked daily and strength trained 2x per week. Eventually I added a couple of fitness classes. I kept a journal which helped me track my progress, highs, and lows. I established good habits and kept at it. I always remembered where I started, because I didn't want to go back.
My trainer closed his business last fall, about the time I reached maintenance. I joined the Y and took up lap swimming. I set up a work out area at home where I mostly do weights at this time. I still eat the same, just allow a little more latitude on weekends and special events.
It's all about the mindset and how bad you want it. That's the hard part. The techniques are the easy part.

Whoa! Good job! "It's all about the mindset and how bad you want it" I absolutely agree. If you don't have the right mindset you'll not succeed long-term.1

You are amazing! You look wonderful and you have kept this off for a long time!

Awesome!!! You have done so well! I too like looking back at old photos but unfortunately there's not many as I was always to shy of the camera! So only really got the one photo to compare back too! Keep up the good work !1

I'm 53, working with a trainer, and have made many of the changes you did at the start. I have a long way to go, but seeing your success at this stage in life is very inspirational ... thank you for posting!

Ooh, I love that before picture. You are right, it really does show how far you have come, more so than the official pic.
I love that the happy smile is the same in both pics too.
You are an awsome, insightful, inspirational woman.
Cheers, h.1 -
Wow! You are a great example and inspiration with that.1

You look great & no loose skin! Do you feel that the weights helped with toning, or the amount of time (fast/slow) loss?
