What happens if I eat maintenance and do strength training?

I still have about 8lbs left to lose until my goal weight. Over the year I lose 62lbs thanks to cardio and reduced calories. I have no hips or bum anymore, though, and I'm growing tired of this lifestyle. I'm always hungry and cardio is so boring.
When I eat maintenance I no longer feel hungry and I actually enjoy weight lifting. If I were to eat maintenance and do mainly weight training, with only a little cardio mixed in, will I still yield results? I don't want to plateau this close to the end.
My biggest concern is that I won't be doing hard enough weight training. I live in a rural area that's at least 45mins from a gym, so I do everything at home. If my heart rate is up and I can feel the burning in my muscles, does that mean it's working?
Thanks so much (:

If you eat at maintenance, you will neither gain nor lose weight no matter what else you're doing. If you still have a few lbs to go, eat at a small deficit and/or increase your activity to continue losing. Strength training is an excellent way of conserving lean body mass and I would encourage you to start. Check out the "fitness and exercise" forum for ideas on how to get started. Best of luck!
