Nutrition Question

I'm worried about going over the nutrition numbers that MFP gives me. Like for fat carbs protein and sugar consumption for the day. I've gone over some of them on some days. But have never gone over my calories on any day. Is that a problem ?

Calories are king! Work on your macros when you get a handle on your intake.

They are minimum targets, going over within your calories isn't an issue.

That said, if you are over on carbs, fat AND protein on one day, that's choosing an incorrect entry when logging. There are 4 calories in a gram of fat and protein and 9 in a gram of fat. So multiply each by their logged grams and they should add up to the calories also logged.

Thanks for the info. And no, it's never been all three on the same day.

It's more important to meet your total calorie goal, but you may find it easier to meet that if you try to hit your macros instead. You might also find that if you pay attention to macros, that you'll be more successful, but don't stress over it.

Agree! Dial in calories first. Then focus on hitting protein. Then adjust fat and carbs to meet your specific needs, specifically energy and satiety. No need to fret about anything else early in the game. The only exception is sugar (not from fruit) if it tends to make you binge. If it doesn't, you're good.

You can adjust your macros too to what works for you. I find 40/30/30 to be the easiest to maintain. I don't worry about sugar, but I usually don't go over, just on special days.
