Very briefly: I am a 5'4" 62 year old female. I have been on MFP for 13 months and have lost 40lbs. The weight has come off fairly slowly, but consistently. My exercise has consisted of 75 hard minutes on the treadmill 4-5 times/week, along with some yoga, and brisk outdoor walking.

Since I have seemed to have stalled at the 10lbs-to-go mark - I thought I would shake up my exercise routine. I have added one hour/week of old school calisthenics and boxing instruction. I am doing things I haven't done in 50 years - jumping rope, jumping jacks, push-ups, you name it - along with the boxing. My coach works me hard and I am like a wet noodle at the end of the hour. (I never guessed boxing could be so exhausting!!!) My Fitbit indicates I am burning about 400-450 calories per session.

I have put on two lbs since I started these workouts three weeks ago. I can't be building muscle that quickly, can I? And from just one hour/week?? Since I am VERY VERY sore for one or two days after each session - from using muscles I have probably NEVER engaged - is the weight gain due to muscle recovery? I know 2 lbs isn't much in the scheme of things, and if this is just a normal consequence of my new program, I won't be concerned. Am I thinking on the right track here????

PS: have NOT changed eating habits or upped caloric intake....

No, you're not building muscle that quickly ... it's water weight. When your body tries to heal itself after your workouts, it retains water.
