Hi all,

I use Fitbit HR and have worked out 7 out of 7 days this week.

If I stay below 1500 cals which has me eating maint nearly minus exercise. It will work as well as just dieting right?

As a male you should never eat below 1500 net as a daily calorie goal.

How are you measuring your food intake? Are you using food (kitchen) scales?

    Sore muscles? Feeling fatigued?
Water retention from a new and hard exercise routine would mask any weight (fat) loss.

A week is nowhere near enough time to know how things are going.

Only in the upper body, the running is new but I hill walk a lot so the legs are fine. A bit tired today if im honest.

Im in agreement with the too early but I dont want to waste time

    A. Run out of gas for work/workouts.

    B. Not loose any fat from all my efforts.

Ive also started using protien powder and creatine today.

Im happy with my fitness going up but I dont want to maintain i need the gut away

Creatine also causes water retention in many people while you are loading to saturation point.

HRMs are heartbeat counters not calorie counters. Their accuracy for calorie counts can be far worse than many imagine - even for steady state cardio of a reasonable and consistent effort.

Everything is an estimate, consistency and time plus making adjustments based on long term trends works well though.

Im thinking that what its knocking off my daily total is an overestimate.

It does need fine tuned if I knock it too low I will binge and game over.

For example its had me in the exercise zone today for 8 hours. I rested all day after the week and only done half an hour of lifting today.
