Having the best shoes for you will make a huge difference in how much you enjoy and stick with your exercise. They will affect how you feel for the rest of the day after your run. They will decrease the likelihood of injuries.
I second the recommendation that you go to a good Running store or foot specialist for advice. They will examine your feet and your gait to determine what is best for you as an individual.
Running stores will do that for free. Once you learn what type of shoes are best for you, then you can keep your eyes out for bargains in the type of shoe that you need.
Foot specialist advised me that I need my heel down and my toes out. My favorites are Altras & Topos, but your needs may be different. Some people need more support to prevent pronation, etc.
