Hi everyone! Feel free to add me as I need all the support I can get! I am currently very unhealthy, unfit and have a poor diet. My mum had a heart attack last week and we have found out its hereditary so I have realised how important it is to keep myself, and very importantly, my heart, as healthy as possible! Any help or advice would be appreciated :) x

I am very sorry to hear that. Best wishes to you and your mother.

There has been a lot of heart disease among my ancestors as well. It motivates me to be in better shape.

I view the process as "keep calm and on program." Pilot yourself with a steady hand even when things get difficult.

Set up your profile for "1lb loss" and "sedentary." Learn how to measure portions with cup measures and a scale. Start exercising doing things you can do right now (e.g., walking) and work it up slowly.

I expect your mother will need your help, and you being healthy will help you to help her. I am wishing you strength.

Heart issues run in my family and that and my blood pressure were big motivators to lose weight. You might want to get a doctor to run some tests and see how your heart is doing. I was glad to learn I didn't have any narrowing of the arteries, even with my blood pressure. I don't always feel well enough to do really intense exercises, but walking at my own pace has been a good way to slowly increase activity.
