I just started my LCD and I keep reading that counting calories is unnecessary on a LCD. Any thoughts on this?

Counting calories ensures you're eating to lose weight. People can still gain weight eating low carb if they aren't careful.4

Try it and see.1

Assuming that LCD is low-carb diet and not lowest common denominator (well, actually, even if it is lowest common denominator), my thought is that you don't need to count calories as long as you are consuming fewer calories than your body uses. If you can manage that by counting your carbs (or by doing arithmetic so you can add fractions with different denominators), great. If that doesn't work for you, then you may be someone for whom counting calories is a useful tool.
Your body will "count" the calories, whether you do or not.3 -
Before the days of Internet n smartphones, I m sure it was a bit%h to 'count calories' but now MFP does most of it for us. Takes me 10 min a day to record/plan what's best to stick in my tummy. I think it's a small price to pay for a guarantee success.4

It will depend on you. For some people, low carb regulates their appetite/cravings and they lose weight without counting a single calorie. While others easily overeat, low carb or not, and need to keep track, This goes for all ways of eating/diets.
Just don't think that going low carb = automatic weight loss. Losing weight is always CICO calories in v calories out no matter which woe or macro split you choose.2 -
Thank you everyone for your responses. I log my meals daily and honestly don't mind. I meant to ask about LCHF and calorie counting. I'm currently following LC but once I switch to LCHF my carb intake will drop a lot. I'm also concerned that my calorie intake is currently way to low. I was very inactive when I first started doing this. Now I workout 5-6 days a week and I don't think 1200 calories is enough. I missed working. I love the burn.0

then u can start to eat back some of the burned calories. Also LCHF has a lot of "fat bombs" (like bullet proof coffee etc etc) u can use to instantly increase ur calorie intake.0
