The low salt idea is wrong?

There is always going to be some that find the recommendations don't fit. Health needs will differ and create minorities.
I'm one of the 1% of the world for whom gluten is a horrible thing. My experience with that food is not relevant to most people. Same goes for the few who actually benefit from low sodium. Cutting sodium is not going to help most people, and even has a higher mortality rate for those who are healthy.
The sodium guidelines were set up to address the needs of the few and not the many.0 -
I have to watch my salt intake because kidney stones are not as much fun as everyone makes them out to be on the other hand I actually have borderline low blood pressure so I need enough salt to keep from fainting every time I stand up. I just can't win1

Like me with my genetic cholesterol issues, for whom those old fashioned low fat (and sat fat) guidelines hold true, he has genetic issues with blood pressure and is sensitive to sodium. He does need to stick to the guidelines on sodium consumption.
They may have painted with a broad brush with those types of guidelines, but they do hold true for some people, and are not entirely asinine.
My wife is the opposite. And every single time we tell people how much she has to eat, they freak out and feel she is going to have a heart attack. She has 10,000mg/day. If she doesn't salt everything and maintain a high level of sodium, she actually can go into tachycardia arrest; almost happened before when she was brushing her teeth. True story.0 -

Would you be able to prevent the kidney stones if you also ate high levels of potassium and magnesium? They help balance the effects of salt. So it would be interesting to know if that would have an impact.0
