it may help to use the recipe calculator so you get the the right or very close amount of calories. some of the entrys on mpf have been made by other people and may be a little different.2

Use the recipe builder, it's much easier that way.3

You should weigh each individual ingredient and then enter then separately. When I cook for the boyfriend, I weigh everything and then divide by 2. I then will make sure my portion is half of the whole of course.0

For recipes with a number of ingredients, I love using the Recipes tool. If you go to Recipes (under Food) you can upload a recipe or input all the ingredients, how many servings, etc. Then when you log a meal in your diary, you can select, for example, "Dinner" and then go to Recipes and select it. That way you can log accurately without having to list out every detail in your diary every time.
If it's just a few ingredients, or something where the ingredients change a lot (like salads) I list out each ingredient in my diary.0 -
Do not use random entries where you have no idea what they used to make something. Use the recipe builder and create your own recipes when you're cooking. It is a great tool - one of the things I use the most on MFP.

Some recipes take quite a while to enter in the recipe builder, but once they are in there you don't have to do it again. Most of my regular go-tos are now in my log.
Sometimes I will calculate on paper and create an entry without the builder, it can be faster. I DO NOT check the box to add it to the database, no one should use it and it just clogs it up even more. JMO0 -
recipe builder will be your best friend. so is "my foods". When I go to PitaPit, I can add my pita into their builder on their site with all the macros. I then copied this info to "my foods". Usually the same with taco tuesday and a bunch of other weekly meals that dont change for the most part. Obviously the accuracy isnt going to be 100% in the pitapit example but its a good enough guesstimate (sauces, cheese etc can be +/-)1
