What gym do you use?

24 hour Fitness
Pros -
Close to home
I've been a member forever so it's cheap
Lots of cardio machines and multiple areas for strength training
When I go early in the morning it isn't crowded
Lots of classes
My location is big and open
Cons -
If I go in the evening, it's much more crowded
Popular classes can fill up quickly and there have been classes I couldn't join
Sometimes slow when making repairs to equipment/cardio machines
I also work out at home and at a home gym at my trainer's house

Crunch Fitness
Pros -
Cheap, for 20 a month I get classes and can always bring a guest (works for the bf who only occasionally wants to go)
Plenty of classes with a relatively wide variety
It opened in the last year, so all new machines, very clean.
All the machines have headphone hookups to the multiple tvs
Open 24 hours during the week
Cons -
It's in a mini mall with a grocery store, pet store, & 2 restaurants so that parking lot fills up. It gets pretty bad during peak hours looking for a spot.
The staff kinda sucks. Not helpful when I have questions, they feel like they don't want to be there.0 -
I attend a gym that's only for ladies so far it's pretty good!
The pro would be the equipment being pretty good.
Sauna, pool and jacuzzi, classes
Con- the location isn't in the best area.0 -
I'm a Planet Fitness member.
Pros:
Great Price
Lots of Equipment
Nice Showers
Open 24 Hours on Weekdays (I don't go weekends)
Decent Music
TVs on Cardio Machines
Cons:
Distance from Home (about 15 miles, but I live in the country, so everything is far for me)
No Pool

I go to a small local gym.
Pros:
Has all the equipment I need
Can almost always get on the machine I want without waiting
Conveniently next to a grocery store
On the way home from work
Open 24/7
Cons:
Very small
Limited equipment
There's a TV at the end of the room and sometimes someone turns the volume on and I'm like "I did not come here to listen to cable TV people shouting about sports, why oh why didn't I bring my headphones."0 -
I go to Xsport (chain gym)
Pros
24 hours
Close to home (3 miles) walkable in the summer and fall on weekends
Across from a Target and Vitamin Shoppe
Pool
Sauna in ladies locker room
Relatively clean
Towel service
Cons
Its always crowded. Always. O_O I've never been in the middle of the night but 5 am -10 pm I've been in there and its too peopley for me.
2 power racks, 1 squat rack we need more. There will be a wait.
The floor in the weight room has soft spots so finding the proper footing can be a task
no dedicated deadlift platform so people are dead lifting in the 3 racks
The trainers and staff are rude.
Most patrons on weekends and evenings think the gym is a nightclub. Mornings are preferred but still crowded.
so overall too crowded 30-40 people in the weight room at off peak hours. Peak hours I'm sure there are fist fights

I'm in two gyms
Local garage type gym
Pros
- train in class environment, always someone to spot you or encourage you, friendly competition at conditioning sessions.
- Specific training advice if I want to focus on power lifting, endurance or general help on what ever my goals are.
- Body company measurements with calipers
- I'm friends with the other members and know them all by name at this point - brunch on Monday after class
- everyone turns around if you're going for a PR on the erg, lifting, which ever...to encourage, cheer you along, just say well done.
- Nutrition advice when I ask for it
- Emails asking me how I am if I miss sessions, not that I do, but others might. I think they'd be in the phone wondering if I was still alive if I missed more than 2-3 days without telling them
- Genuinely care about my health
Cons- only set class times, expensive, we just about have a toilet, 1 parking space.
Commercial gym
Pros cheap and has a pool, changing rooms and lots of parking.
Cons- people more focused on looking in mirrors than lifting correctly
Poorly maintained equipment, the poor erg hasn't seen a drop of oil in years I'd reckon
Left to own devices, poor advice from trainers
I go to the garage gym 4-6 times week. The other one is for the odd time I don't make a class or maybe for a swim on a Sunday.
Hit more goals than ever, smashed through yearly goals in weeks to have to set new ones since joining the garage gym. I love it!0 -
I go to an independent gym in central London called City Athletic
Pros
- loads of free weights
- some seriously inspirational staff (it's run by Shaun Stafford and he's around a lot - do a google image search!)
- fabulous trainers with tons of qualifications
- membership capped to 400 so you get to know the regulars quickly
- properly friendly staff
- nice women's changing rooms that are never too busy
- fabulous vibe, with everyone getting on and doing their thing, and not getting up in your face
- about 99% of people are happy to let you work in
Cons
- expensive
- some of the people are too scary to ask to work in with!
- some people are bad at putting the weights back
- can get busy at some lunchtimes, particularly as many people work with trainers so there are double the number of people on the gym floor0 -
Crunch Fitness
Pros: Prices
Cons: Hours, and it's tiny
But the price! Lol0 -
I go to to Crunch in Staten Island1
-
fitness evolution
Pros:
3 blocks from my home
open 5am-11pm week days
year round pool
can use other fit evo gyms
new machines
good price
cons:
they just cancelled all group classes & are charging extra $20+ to participate in group personal trainer classes0 -
Baileys Gym in Jacksonville, Florida.
Been there for three years. My plan includes fitness classes, spinning, tanning (which I dont do) and childcare (which I dont have). I go to a trainer through there and he is great although being 25, I am going to have ton stop soon because I dont have the money (school, doctor bills because I have crohns). My favorite fitness class is called ignite. I say it is like hip hop zumba. More actual dancing. So fun. And a lot of sweating. Just started ballet fusion last week which is like a barre class. The gym is open 24/7 for members and has like 15 locations so with my membership I can go to all of them depending on which side of Jacksonville I am on and I heard they may be making one in my hometown 40 minutes away so maybe when I visit my family I can still go to the gym.0
