Yesterday, my husband and I hiked from Lake Louise to the Lake Agnes Tea House ... 10.8 km!

Great hike! The last time I did it was about 30 years ago and back in those days it was difficult. This time it seemed quite easy. It's a nice feeling to be in better shape at 50 than I was at 20. :D

And then we walked around the town we were staying in. Another 2.7 km for a total of 13 km. Not bad. And I wasn't even stiff and sore this morning

I see some great figures! Wonderful job!
I had a great weekend. The rest was not as good.

    Mo 19: 8,250

I've been posting my steps over in the other June steps challenge. For the last week of the month I'll post to both threads. For July we should get coordinated to pull both challenges into one place.

I have the Accupedo app on my cell phone. I've been using it to work my way up to that 10000 steps goal. Some days I get there, most days I don't, but the process is working with the daily count on a continuous rise, going from a commitment of 4000 steps a day 8 weeks ago to 6000 steps a day after the recent holiday weekend. I hope the public accountability factor of recording my steps here will help motivate me to push on every day until 10000 steps a day becomes automatic. It will be great if I can get to 300K steps in June.

June 01: 8,136 steps. I'll try to make up the difference tomorrow.
June 02: 15,555 steps. Yes! That'll get the job done. :)
June 03: 9,770 steps. I'll try to make up the difference tomorrow.
June 04: 10,702 steps. That makes up for what I was short yesterday.
    June 05: 10,920 steps.
June 06: 4,227 steps. A blown day due to work issues. I will make up the shortfall ASAP.
June 07: 10,114 steps. Back on track. One week in I am only 576 steps behind my target.
June 08: 5,650 steps. A lot of driving and not enough walking. A guesstimate based on prior walks and time. My Accupedo app was off on my phone. I will make up an accumulating shortfall over the next few days.
June 09: 11,801 steps. Back on track. I missed a day posting here.
June 10: 13,005 steps. Definitely in the hunt for 300K steps in June.
    June 11: 5,551 steps. Meh...a blown day.
June 12: 10,110 steps. On the road unexpectedly for work. I still got the 10K steps in.
June 13: 7,575 steps. Still on the road.
June 14: 6,939 steps. Heading back home. Got some catching up to do.
June 15: 8,144 steps. Additional work moving boxes and computers at home.
June 16: 5,990 steps. Approximate guesstimate based on prior walks. Sans phone.
June 17: 4,801 steps. Just one long walk. But I also did yardwork and swimming.
June 18: 6,709 steps. Just one long walk. More yardwork and swimming.
June 19: 9,118 steps. Still falling short.
June 20: 14,343 steps. Much better. Still work do in the consistency department.
June 21: 12,646 steps. Picking up some of the shortfall.
    June 22: 10,116 steps.
June 23: 14,773 steps. A walk to return Redbox DVDs at 9pm helped.

June total: 216,695/300K (should be at 230,000)

    Monthly goal 200,000 steps.
Totally forgot that I should post regular updates as to my progress - probably because not going well! Been getting lots of heel pain - now diagnosed by physio as achilles tendonitis and told to ease back on the walking. I'm recovering from back surgery and have been very inactive for a couple of years and apparently not uncommon to get this after long period of inactivity - lots of exercising to be done to stretch the tendon again.
Today is the first time all month I've sat down and totted up my steps - actually quite surprised that I have managed 138,551. Think 200,000 may be a 'step too far' for June but aiming to see how close I can get.

This is not as easy I thought :-(
Up and highs depending on the shape that particular day.
Thu 22: 14,648 (got tired after walking in the city, not used to that)
Fri 23. Midsummer in Sweding, too much food and beverages, very little motion: 8,761 (I wish some had been from dancing, but not)
Saturday: 13,071 and back on track :-)

I need to add up some more totals, but meanwhile ...

A little weekend short tour ... with a Randonneuring event included. :D

Saturday -- My husband and I cycled what was probably the most difficult / challenging 200 km randonnee (long distance cycling event ) I've ever done. 210 km with 2700 metres of climbing in a heat we haven't experienced since we were in Queensland at Easter in 2016.

We made a guest appearance with the BC Randonneurs and did the 200K event of the Peace to Parliament "hell week". Some riders also did only the 200K, but some did the whole set of four rides from Fort St. John all the way down to Victoria.
Peace to Parliament - 4 brevets from Fort St John to Victoria in June 2017

My husband was all right in the heat. He is usually the one who struggles with hot temperatures. But this time it was me. By about the half way point I knew I was battling heat exhaustion. I think May's surgery put a dent in my fitness level.

Nevertheless we finished the ride in Victoria within the time limit ... with 30 min to spare! Our total time was 13 hours.

And then went for a 2-3 km walk to find dinner!

Distance: 212.1km (including the ride up to our B&B)
    Elevation: 2,729m
    Moving Time: 11:39:32
    Elapsed Time: 13:36:03
    Speed: Avg: 18.2km/h | Max: 50.4km/h

Sunday -- After a deep 8 hours of sleep, we were up for a delicious breakfast at our B&B, and then off again.

We needed to cycle back to Duncan to complete the circle. Today's ride gave us a chance to ride some of the cycling trails in Victoria and that was a really pleasant part of the ride. Then up and over a hill to the ferry to take us across to the second half of the journey. That second half of the journey was a little bit more difficult with a few more climbs ... and heat. The official "in the shade" temp reached 32C, but our on-bike computers showed as high as 40C while we were cycling.

We finally stopped for lunch where we ate salty food and had quite a lot to drink to rehydrate.

From there, we only had about 10 km to go, and were into our destination in no time to complete a challenging little short tour loop (a randonnee + recovery ride) on a hot, hot weekend!

    Distance: 51.6km
    Elevation: 422m
    Moving Time: 3:24:10
    Elapsed Time: 5:52:08
    Speed: Avg: 15.2km/h | Max: 47.9km/h
