Hello everyone. I'm trying to lose 56 or more lbs. I need help staying motivated on this journey. I've been on MFP for a 3 weeks now so I'm just getting started. If you want to add me as a friend please do. We can encourage each other. I need all the encouragement I can get.

Hi LovelyJ384,
I am also in the process of losing 50+ lbs. you should be proud of your decision to get fit. 3 weeks sticking to anything starts to form a habit. I've been struggling with my weight my whole adult life. Christmas of 2016 was my reality check. I will be 40 this year and I made it my goal to be as fit as I can. I've been using MFP for a few months now. The hardest part for me to be consistent using the app is that I have to log everything! I found myself "forgetting" when I had to log a food that I knew was not a good choice. That's also the upside. I am accountable when I pull up the nutrition chart that shows me that a majority of my diet is carbs, even though I stayed within my calories. I can see where I need to adjust my diet. I am now going into my 6th month of eating healthy. It took a couple of months to adjust to the new foods, cut out my sodas, subs and pizza (the things I lived for), but when your body is free of it, you feel good! I started to gain the energy and my body wanted to exercise. My best friend is a Zumba instructor. I started taking her Zumba Gold class (it's less intense and no jumping). At 240, I was not jumping anywhere for anything. I do it twice a week and that took me a while to commit mentally but I told myself I was worth it. I've only missed 1 class all year. I've been feeling discourage this week because my Weightloss is stalling. When I seen your post I felt like I should encourage you who is just starting instead of feeling sorry for myself. Stay with it and build a support system with people with the same goals in mind. I'm down 30+ lbs. and I NEVER thought I could stick to anything that wasn't benifiting my family as well. You are worth it! When I invested I myself, it made me better for my family. I'm more active with them and they are rooting me on.1 -

Thank you for sharing your story! Its hard to stay consistent when you don't see the numbers on the scale go down. I'm so happy for you that you lost 30+lbs. Please don't take that lightly. I wish you much luck on your journey. The little bit of motivation I have is my health. I have high cholesterol and that was a wake up call for me. I know what I'm doing is totally worth it not just for my family but also for ME. I'm learning that its ok to be take care of myself and that its not a bad thing to be a little selfish. My life is worth it.1
