When did you see a difference?

Hello Everyone,

I have been using this site for a little over a month and its been really great, I didn't know how many calories I was consuming until I punched them in...wow was I surprised.

My question to the community when did you start noticing the weight loss? I have lost 20 pounds so far but I don't feel like I look any different, my cloths all still fit the same. Perhaps my friend was right when I told him about the weight loss

He said look Ed 20lbs on me would be a lot but 20lbs on you would be like chipping an ice cube off an iceberg. A fair point I suppose and likely very true.

When do you think I will finally start to see change perhaps at 50lbs?

Thanks for reading

Well you have to think of the first little bit as some water weight that came off so not all of it was fat but still some of it was. It took me about 3-4 months or about 30-40 lbs for me to notice a difference in the mirror but my clothes fit better or more lose i should say after about 2 months. But if you think about it you look at yourself every day so you wont notice the subtle changes as much.

I've lost just over 20 pounds as well, but don't see too much of difference. I have been taking measurements though and have lost about 4 inches around my waist. I have been wearing dresses mostly since it's summer, but when I tried on jeans, I realized what a difference that 20 pounds has made. There will be no clear cut answer since everyone carries their weight differently, but you will see a difference. Don't get discouraged - every little bit counts! I heard this somewhere - "You didn't put the weight on overnight so don't expect to lose it overnight either." Keep up the good work!

Hello thanks for the reply, at first I thought it was water weight too but since starting I have been drinking 8 glasses a water a day(not sure if does anything but make me pee more). I do notice my shirts don't unbutton themselves like they used to and my belt is one hole tighter now.

I think you are right because I look everyday I don't see a difference I should probably have my loving wife, who is also using this app, take a few photos of me and then look at them each month.

I think because I was so heavy the weight is really coming off fast, when should I expect that to slow down? Right now I am dropping between 4-5 pounds a week, I heard anything more than 2lbs is bad. I'm eating under what the app tells me to eat but not because I am forcing it I'm just not hungry like I used to be. My stomach has adjusted well to the smaller portions and I find I go much longer throughout the day before I am hungry. I used to be hungry like 2 hours after I ate now if I eat at 7am, 12 noon, and 5pm I am good to go all day.

    Thanks

    Ed

The support on this site is really great and it does help when you can see and read other peoples stories. It gives me hope that I can succeed as I have seen others do it

I never really notice a difference. It sounds weird but I feel it instead. Like I feel sitting in the car, how I feel laying in bed, how a chair feels different.

Depending on your height, age, weight and BF% you could see 4-5 lbs for a while. Theres no clear cut answer to it but if you think you are losing to much it is prob best to slow down so you minimize muscle loss

I have lost about 17 so far, and no, I don't look much different yet. But I feel better. I can actually get through days without taking Aleve for my aching knees.

But anyway, do you FEEL better? That counts for something too

Jenni I never thought of it like that, I suppose now that I think about it the seat belt in my car is no longer chocking me as it once did

@adlace, actually what started this whole quest, aside from not wanting to die in my 50's from a heart attack, was this terrible sciatica I have and the CPAP machine I must use everynight. If losing the weight will finally allow me to walk and sit without pain that would be amazing. If I can finally rid myself of the CPAP machine that would be life changing. I'm only 29 way to early to be having to deal with Sleep Apnea issues but here I am because I am way too heavy

I haven't really. Not visually. It's hard to get past the mental issues sometimes.

I KNOW I've lost inches because I use a tape measure and it can't lie to me like the scale can. And my clothes have gotten smaller.

I suggest taking progress pics, they do help. I wish I'd taken them when I first started on here, but embarrassment kept me from doing that.

And wait. Be patient. I seriously thought by this time I'd be where I want to be. I'm not, but I'm good with it now.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself OP, you'll make yourself crazy.

Thanks everyone for replying to my post, its finally getting dark here In Pittsburgh so I'm going to go on my nightly run, I still feel like people are looking at me and laughing if I run in the day but at night its not so bad, plus it cooler which helps since I sweat like a man of my weight would....a lot

    Have a great evening every

It depends entirely on your height, how much you currently weigh, and where you carry that weight. It's really different for each person. Dropping 4-5 lbs a week is a lot of weight, but if you're eating healthy foods in reasonable portions when you're hungry and staying hydrated throughout the day and getting in some cardio and weights you'll soon see a difference.

Something I wish I had done was take measurements each month and take monthly photos of myself in my largest pair of pants (the same pants each month) so each month I could see how much smaller I was getting. I lost most of the weight before joining the site, so I didn't realize how motivating that could be. Do yourself a favor and take your measurements tonight and put on your biggest pair of pants and take some photos, from all sides, for yourself!! :) Do this monthly and you'll see the difference, but looking in the mirror every day you may not realize how awesome your results are. Good luck and feel free to add me if you're looking for support.

I just started week 3 but before I started I took pictures and at 6 weeks I will take new pictures and see if there is a difference. I plan to do that until I get where I want to be. Good luck.

I know this is an old post but I can now answer my own question,

I really started to notice the change right around the 60lbs lost mark
