Is it possible...

I know some people can be harsh on these boards so please don't comment if it isn't nice or respectful.
With that said, every year I promise myself that through the Winter I will keep going and be in a bikini by Summer. I haven't worn a bikini since I was a teenager. Im a very modest person but would love to be able to wear one on the beach just one year and Im getting older (33) so every year that I put it off it seems even less likely. Is it even possible to go from 200ish pounds to bikini in a year? I know Im out for this year but Im hoping its even possible next year. I hate feeling so uncomfortable in my own skin in the Summer. I wish I were able to wear long sleeve shirts now....I don't want to feel that way.
In Feb I started C25K and am now jogging 1.5 miles a day 5 days a week (and I keep raising it as it gets easier, started at just 3 min jogging) so Im getting exercise but its the diet part I struggle with.
Last question, for the ladies....The week before TOM I feel I can eat everything and am a bottomless pit, always hungry. How do you handle that and stay on track? I eat loads of calories (still in deficit) but it doesn't ever seem like enough.

I've seen quite a few on here who have lost that much in a year. I wish I could say I was one of those but I've only started my um-teenth WL journey a little over a week ago. Good for you on running over a mile 5 days a week. I don't run at all.

My recommendation for the TOM is drink lots of water to keep you fuller longer. And eat foods with lots of protein in them.

Feel free to add me if you'd like, I'll be 33 in July!

It's not impossible but if you really want to put your best body in a bikini, I'd suggest adding some resistance training to your routine. It's awesome that you're jogging 5 days per week but resistance training is what's really going to help you retain muscle mass and look more "toned" as you slim down. Focusing solely on cardio often results in people still looking too soft for their liking at their goal weight. Also eating enough protein is a crucial part of retaining muscle. The usual recommendation is 0.6 to 0.8 grams per pound of bodyweight. I'm 113 pounds, but I try to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight daily as it helps me feel satiated.

Definitely by next bikini season if you stick to a modest deficit and start lifting. Best of luck :)

They key (for a bikini body) is lifting heavy and a calorie deficit. Cardio is not necessary, but can help since it will afford you additional calories that you can eat back. But you can get in to a calorie deficit without cardio by using a calorie deficit through diet alone. They most important thing to avoid overeating, at any time, is to track your intake in the food diary. For me it is the only thing that can keep me honest.

You can be in a bikini now! There's no weight restriction on them! Set mini-goals for yourself and celebrate along the way. And 33 is YOUNG! My fitness routine is yoga and Pilates. I haven't added weights in yet.

    This!
If we all waited to be 100% happy with our bodies, nobody would ever a bikini. Enjoy your life with what you have, at the same time as you work hard to make it better.
With that said, yes it is possible. Like others have said adding lifting weights will give better results..BUT..adding to much to the plate too soon is the biggest reason why people give up. Baby steps. If running/walking is your thing, keep doing that. When they gets too easy for you, add more challenges to your body. The key is being persistent with whatever you are doing more to challenge yourself.

Geez, I think it very much varies by person. I can't say that you're going to be comfortable in a bikini in a year. I would not have been but I'm not you.

You know, if you start now and fully commit, you'll be in a better place next year. If it happens to include a bikini then that's great. But you'll feel better in jeans and a sweater too. :)
