Temptations...... Why so many temptations?

I had many temptations today and times that I could just throw in the towel. The was the first day since eating healthy that my daughters headed out for a day trip. Normally we buy lunch when we are out. Today I packed my lunch. This temptation was a pretty easy one to over come it just took time. The second temptation was the candy stores. We went to a tourist area and there was a lot of souvenir and candy shops. I allowed my daughters to get candy and I did not eat a piece. One the way back to our vehicle, we came across a restaurant that serves French Fries from around the world. I am Canadian living in the USA and I really miss Poutines (Canadian French Fry dish). Of course this restaurant sold them. I really wanted to order a small order of the fries and just eat a couple. But did not do it! So the whole way home I dreamed of this yummy soup I was going to make. Cabbage, Carrot, Potato, Onion and Chicken, with some added chicken broth. I think I was craving salt. Got home made the soup, and was soooooo disappointed. Of course I purchased low sodium broth for the diet and had not tasted it yet. There was no sodium not even a little hint. I added Mrs. Dash, but it did not do justice. I ate it but was not satisfied. The third temptation was this evening. After my soup I went to my parents house to visit with my Uncle who had dropped by. My Mom made meatloaf tonight. We arrived just when they where having dinner and she offered me some, not remembering I can not have it. My Mom makes the best meatloaf and it is one of my favorite dishes. I continued to visit while they were eating and did not eat one thing! Just sipped on my water. Today was HARD..... But I got through it just like I will the rest of the DAYS! Tomorrow I go to the Dr. to get my protein power and start my two weeks of liquids before sleeve surgery. :)

It sounds like you are over-restricting your diet. Why couldn't you have a few bites of meatloaf? You will always have these temptations. The trick is to just eat a small amount so you don't go over your calories.

There will always be temptations. Why? Because there's money in it. People like great tasting and easy to eat food, we have money to spend on it, and it's cheap to make, transport and store. Profit.

Your approach really sounds like torture. To be able to resist temptation, your alternative has to be viable. Are you really going to get your stomach cut open and sewn together to stop yourself from eating? Why do you need that kind of punishment? For being human? Why not plan and eat meals that will satisfy you both mentally and physically? Cutting out everything that tastes good isn't necessary. Cutting down on total amounts of calories is necessary. You can have anything you want in moderate amounts. MFP is here to help you.

Why couldn't you have the meatloaf? I'm sure it would have satiated you after the disappointment of the soup.
