I am a physically fit, mother of 2, I work out 6 days a week for 30 - 90 minutes per workout. I run and bike for cardio, circuit train with light weights and golf. I eat healthy and have managed to keep my weight reasonably stable. 10 years ago, I weighed 165lb, I have maintained a weight of between 130 and 135lb since about 9 years ago. In the last year I have noticed that my weight has started to slowly creep up and currently I am at 142lb, despite my activity level and eating habits. I hate to catch even the slightest glimpse of myself in the mirror and am starting to feel like I don't want to be out and about....I worry constantly about what people think and trying to choose what to wear is a marathon of indecision. I typically don't care much about appearances and am far from material, but this is driving me nuts. I really dislike myself when I was heavier and I am paranoid of reaching that weight again; it also isn't helpful that being overweight is something that my brother and mother have battled with all of their lives. I know that I have the tendency to eat things/quantities that I shouldn't when I am feeling good about myself,,,,but that certainly isn't the case in the last year.
Has anyone else experienced this? Was there anything in particular that you realized you were doing that you maybe weren't aware of?

I hit a plateau in weight and was working out several days a week, too. I talked to one of the instructors at the gym and she suggested I keep a food diary. She went over it with me after a week and found I ate too many calories per day (1,800 to 2,000), and did not have enough protein in my diet to keep me feeling full for longer. I've been eating 1,500-1,600 calories/day for about 3 weeks, upped the protein and have lost 4 lbs. Sometimes you just have to change things up in both diet and exercise. Just keep trying different things; don't give up!!0

your body gets use to what you are doing that even though you stay active it's not challenging your body. maybe up your weights when you are weight lifting. upping my weights has helped me lose and tone up, even if its only a few reps as long as you are trying and using your muscle, it will burn fat...keep doing t his for a few weeks and you should noticed some difference.0

Sorry to hear your frustrations. I have a some recommendations I think you could benefit from.
First, make sure you log ALL of your food - regardless of it was a good day or a bad day. This will help you notice when you're making progress vs gaining weight. I don't like to log my exercise since I find that it overinflates my calories and I don't lose as much weight then. If after logging all of your food for 2 weeks, you still do not notice any results- even though you ate well and were within your calories - I recommend switching up your eating and exercise regimen to try to jump start your system.
A lot of people benefit from the 3 hour meal plan which pretty much means you eat 6 mini-meals a day. By doing this you keep your metabolism up and find that you're not as hungry vs if you were only eating 3 meals a day. For exercise I recommend doing exercise intervals to jump start your system. If you've been working out for awhile and doing the same stuff over and over again - you may need to shock your body to get the same results you achieved when you first started. Just google "exercise intervals" and you'll find all sorts of different exercise recommendations. People who do intervals when they work out burn twice as many calories in half the amount of time.
Lastly - if after a couple of months of eating well and switching up your exercise routine, you still notice you are not losing any weight, I recommend getting your thyroid checked.
