Need a new morning cardio exercise

Long story short, I injured my knee about three months ago. At this point there are no problems using any exercise equipment in the gym as long as common sense is exercised. The problem is my morning workout. I tried to get back on our elliptical at home and even though using the ones at the gym cause no discomfort, using the one at home does. Nothing major but enough so that affected my afternoon walk. So looking for recommendations for a cardio exercise to replace the elliptical. It needs to be indoors and take between 15 to 30 minutes. I've already had to ignore traditional calisthenics due to either making enough noise that I wake my wife and/or potential to aggravate my knees. Yes, I acknowledge the possibility that I may have to simply give up my morning workout unless I manage to actually get up early enough to get to the gym but thought I'd try to find some options first. Thanks!

A stationary bike, or a bike trainer? Just adjust the seat correctly to avoid knee pain.
Shadowboxing?
Can you step outside and work out there? Like jump rope, etc.0 -
Dont own a stationary bike but oddly, the bikes at the gym hurt my knees. Yes, I can step outside to work out but wont jumping rope hurt the knees?

It depends on the type of knee problem. You might have to try it to find out.
Bikes tend to hurt the knees more when the seat is too low and/or too far forward. Youtube has tips on adjusting bicycle seats.0 -
Home DVD? I'm a big fan of Beachbody, and they have low impact stuff and programs that take 30 min or less0

Thanks @Cherimoose, I will have to check that out. I've vaguely heard of Beachbody haven't seen it before. The knee injury is kind of multi-level. What caused the last issue was twisting it playing, and I use the term playing VERY loosely, racquetball but its also an on going issue of arthritis starting on top of a lifetime of abusing them because they've been carrying around so much extra weight. Will have to try jumping rope at the gym just to see. Cant justify buying one if I only use it once or twice.
