MFP & FitBit

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed that exercises that are recognized in FitBit do not translate over to MFP. For example, if I walk for 30 minutes, it shows in FitBit, but MFP does not recognize that as a work out. Can this be fixed? I don't want to manually log in MFP, because I think I am getting the calorie reduction for the steps, but not the workout (for challenges, etc).

Thanks!

Fitbit doesn't sync the individual exercises. You will never see anything but your step count on MFP. The calorie burn is included in the sync. So if you burned 300 calories for your exercise, that 300 calories is included in the data sent over even though you don't see it.

MFP does not transfer individual Fitbit activities. That is normal.

I would recommend reading through the first three posts in this thread on the MFP Fitbit Users group...

Nothing to fix, because that is not how the Fitbit & MFP sync work.

Fitbit sends information on steps, calories burned to MFP.
MFP sends information on calories per meal to Fitbit.

You can post a note into your feed to represent your workout.

I have been logging my workout and changing the calories to one calorie. Does this cause any issues?

It appears from your Diary that you are getting your Fitbit Calorie Adjustment on a daily basis. If you are logging an exercise in MFP, allowing it to post a note to your News Feed, then editing that amount to 1 Calorie, that should not cause issues. The MFP and Fitbit synching would end up adjusting properly whether the MFP exercise activity logged Calories was kept as originally logged or after it was edited.

If I have assumed incorrectly, maybe give some more detail on exactly what data you are changing.

Don't do that. It's in the FAQ, but the upshot is that you will overwrite the entry in Fitbit with that and throw off your calories. I would use exercise mode for the same period of time and then edit the MFP entry with Fitbit's data before deleting the duplicate entry in Fitbit.
