Hi Everyone

Thought I would introduce myself and find out if anyone else is doing Keto in the UK!?!?!

I started changing around my diet around 30 days ago after being prescribed new medication (quetiapine) a while back (I have Bipolar - Type 1 if anyone's interested) lets just say going to the toilet isnt as easy as it used to be lol, so I thought lets get rid of these carbs and ditch the laxatives! No bread, rice, pasta etc. This is when I started looking into various low carb diets, I switched over to low carb on around the 5th May at a weight of 18.0 stone which was a massive weight for me and I reolised I needed to do something serious. Ive been struggling quite bad with bipolar for the last 2 years and diet hasnt been exactly top priority but now it is coming somewhat under control(ish) i've set out to "get this weight off". I started out hitting a low carb high protein, only weetabix in mornings then 100% protein for the rest of the day and 0% fat. Then I moved to 0% Carb and High protein and a very small amount of fat (coconut oil etc). Now ive moved to a Ketogenic diet and have just started lighting up my ketosis test strips red in the last 2 days! So far on this journey ive lost around 18lb and have gone from 18.0 stone exactly to 16 stone 10lb and am happy with the results! Cant wait for the ketosis to start kicking in properly, ive decided today im not going to go over 1500 Calories daily and have found my appetite has greatly reduced now im not taking carbs into my system (due to insulin reduction I imagine) and now I eat to fuel myself and crave NOTHING AT ALL! Oh and the toilet problem is all fixed now!

Its probably worth mentioning I do not drink any alcohol at present and for drinks im sticking to coke zero or other alternatives like pepsi max or any other Zero carb Zero sugar drinks, I also check all ingredients lists for "hidden sugars".

Hope everyone is making All Kinds Of Gains whatever your up to and good luck for whatever program you are doing!

If anyone has any tips, tricks or advice for the Ketogenic lifestyle then please feel free to share, it seems to be pretty new'ish in the UK but MASSIVE in America so lets get the UK all aboard (for those it suits).

Thanks for stopping by!

Rick
