NSV 5km in 19:03

I thought I'd post this as I was extremely happy with my run last night.

November last year I was 212lbs (I'm 5ft 7), I was on high blood pressure medicine. I could just about run a mile but it killed me.

I started training for a half marathon a few months ago and last night I ran my first Sub 20 minute 5km.

I did 5km in 19:03 with an average of 6:08 min/mile

Next goal!! 5 Minute Mile and half marathon in 1h:40min

    Congrats!!!

    That's twice as fast as I run (38:03 5k 2 weeks ago). Good luck in your half marathon! I just signed up for my first 8k!

    Awesome victory! I'm working on Runkeeper and doing the C25K and my best mile so far is like 23 minutes so you're kicking my butt!

    you are fast, I am averaging 25 minute for my 5K, I would love to break the 20 minute mark.

    Thanks everyone :) I would have never had believed it this time last year but it seems I'm not that bad at running.

    I saw a quote the other day which I love. The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle.

    I think this has now become my personal mantra

    Glad you found your stride! I hope to one day get a sub thirty minute 5k! Also, I'm training for a 1/2 in October. I'll be happy to finish with no walk breaks
