    As some others have said what are your goals for training and diet. Do you want to lose weight or do you want to run a marathon or do you want to gain muscle and tone up. Each one of these require different approaches.

    I'll give you my perspective for the first year I basically focused on diet and did some general exercising nothing dramatic or crazy but I've lost 80 pounds. Now I'm in the face where wanting to gain muscle and firm up I changed my diet a little to increase my protein level. As far as workout routines I'm a big fan of Tony Horton I just like his concept of muscle confusion and it fits into my goals
