Not only is it OK, it is the one sweetener I don't get an aftertaste from.

Given everything I've read on the subject, Splenda and other sweeteners are not okay because your body doesn't know how to metabolize it. My advice is that if you want sugar, use it - but sparingly - or use honey. Personally, I would NEVER use any artificial sweeteners. I realize Splenda claims it's not artificial, but it is.

Why would that make it not okay? Assuming my body can't metabolize sweeteners, what does this actually mean for my body? Why does this result in harm instead of, say, an unrecognized substance just passing through my body?

Artificial sweeteners are among the most studied substances in the world. While there are some studies that dont come out and completely and categorically state they are safe, there is no evidence that they cause harm unless there is an underlying condition. I am a Splenda girl myself, and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Of course, if it aggravates you in any way, then stop.
