Hi all,

Just wanted to know if its possible to develop any intolerance or allergy to a food later on, despite having it in childhood or even as recently as a few years / months ago.

I've been trying more nuts and seeds as they are low in sugar and good sources of protein/fat.
I used to be fine with peanuts, but the past few days I've noticed my throat itching a lot and my eyes getting kind of watery after I intake peanuts.

It never happens with other nuts/seeds such as walnuts, almonds, cashews.

Just wanted to get your thoughts - thank you all =) Have a great day!

It is absolutely possible, I developed lactose intolerance in my 40s but did not get it confirmed until I did an exclusion diet

Itchy throat and watering eyes sounds quite worrying and I would suggest you stop eating peanuts and see a Dr to be safe

dont know about food allergies for sure, but when i turned 30 I started getting massive allergic reactions at the end of summer/start of fall. The typical sneezing, watering eyes ect. It lasted for about 4-5 years without fail, then suddenly stopped.

I'm 35 and I developed an almond and chia seed allergy last year in February. I used to eat almonds almost every day. :( My mouth and throat get itchy and swollen, and I have some difficulty swallowing. It only happens if I eat a lot of them, but I try to avoid both in general. So far it's just annoying and resolves in 20 minutes or so, but I don't want to start going into anaphylaxis.
