Anybody here big into facebook or on it but considering leaving it? I like certain "group" sites but find the rest of it a waste of time. Majority of my so called "friends" I have nothing much to do in real life. I am curious, what do you like/hate about facebook?

Ah....the people who are on Facebook but "don't like Facebook"....this one's for you ;)

Or they could, oh I don't know, maybe just not worry what other people are doing? These FB haters are like backseat drivers. They don't want to drive, they just want to tell you how you're doing it wrong.

I've deleted my account over there several times, but never announced it. Just wiped the slate clean & then restart after I'm ready to get back on. It's a good way to get rid excess friends & acquaintances that you don't really know. I can't really do thaT anymore since that's how I manage events & stuff for my VW club chapter. Everyone slowly migrated from a VBulletin forum over to FB, so we just handle everything on FB now even though the forum is still up. So I find it extremely hand for that. It's good for keeping in touch with family without actually having them grill me on the phone with questions. Now the only people that I add are people that I converse with regularly IRL or PM & family.

Stuff about my facebook changed last year. Each time I saw a political story, I told facebook to quit following the person who posted it, and don't show me anything from that site again. Now my facebook is full of people I don't know talking about stuff I don't care about.

I'm on fb purely to follow local weather, news, businesses and local events/activities.

I use Facebook because I have a lot of family and friends that are all spread out across the country... and I use it to share pictures and videos of my kid that they otherwise wouldn't get to see. I don't do much else with Facebook anymore other than that.

I use Instagram for of my narcissistic selfie posting needs, thank you very much.

Same, all of my cousins & aunties are in California. I haven't seen some of them since I was 8 & the rest I see about once a decade or at weddings & funerals. Sometimes there not much difference between those last two options.

i think it's funny how people on here are bashing FB about selfie yet this place has more then on thread on selfie !

anyways most people have FB so they can keep contact with family and friends who do not live near them . i personally do not have it but i know people who do .

I was going to point that out, but thought, meh. lol

FB has it's good and it's bad. Social Media has been instrumental in saving death row dogs/cats and helping with promoting dogs and cats in rescues/shelters. I'll always keep FB for rescue purposes. Plus, memes are life. lol

So true. I think social media is the best way for this although I personally don't use facebook.

I am not narcissistic enough for facebook. I barely care enough about what im doing, let alone thinking other people would care too.

Plus if people wanted to stay in contact, lets meet up, pick up the phone. lets not treat each other like few miles/km between us are an ocean.

It also bugs me that people can pretend to be OH SO BUSY and cant ever do anything, while sitting on facebook for 12 hours a day.

    not my jam.

I don't have facebook but people do the same thing here.

I am on Facebook and this is why:

    1. To annoy people who have a different political persuasion than my own.
    2. To heed the call when one is put forth for mourners to attend a funeral for a vet who has no family or friends that can attend.
    3. To keep up with old army buddies-- a picture is often worth a thousand words.
    4. To keep up with the members and activities of groups to which I belong (groups that are not just virtual groups).
    5. To keep the pulse of that part of the nation that uses FB to communicate; after all, social media is how the "Arab Spring" developed and FB will probably show the first signs of the Zombie Apocalypse.
