Do minor injuries cause water retention?

This is just out of curiosity because I've been skateboarding, which comes with a lot of bumps and bruises. I noticed that the scale isn't moving much now, but I'm not too worried about it. I just would like to know for future reference.

Nope, I'm forever covered in bruises (I'm clumsy and quite bruise prone!) and it's never caused water retention.

Thanks! Probably just ate too much sodium then. I have been eating frozen food a ton lately. Haha.

It depends upon what is injured. If the injury is to a muscle, yes.

Or if your bumps and bruises are accompanied by swelling and there is enough swelling for the weight to register on a scale.

I have a lovely large goose egg on my arm this morning from an accident yesterday, and while it probably changed my weight by an oz or so, I'd never be able to see the difference in the background of normal weight fluctuations.
