Weight GAIN HELP me...

I have gained like 3-4 lbs. but I have been working out for 30-60 minutes before AND after work! I am eating smaller portions, healthier options and less calories per day (1400-1600 a day) than before! Instead of losing weight I have gained it!! Although my energy levels are higher and I feel better, I am not going in the right direction. I weigh 250 now and I was 246 like 2 weeks ago.

Before I was working out and watching my portions I had maintained my weight at 245-250 for over a year - doing nothing! Now I am getting bigger? What gives??

Hi. I too am having the same issue. I am a member of TOPS (Taking off pounds sensibly) and we have the weekly weigh-ins which is great. I've been losing a pound or two here and there... going in the right direction. Then I took up Cardio boxing a couple of times a week and also spinning once a week, and then taking the dog for a walk (nightly which I did all along). I also increased my protein intake 2x as advised per nutritionist... Since this increased activity and protein, I have been steadily gaining weight. I've gained about 3-4 lbs. I'm attributing this to increased muscle, since protein helps generate muscle. But to be sure, I am going to get my body fat measured. I am a bit frustrated, but hope that soon all the muscle I am building will start too burn more fat and start me downward again.

Any input on this is extremely appreciated... I feel your pain! Paula

Have you just started working out in the last few weeks? It's not uncommon to see no change or even a slight gain on the scale when we start a new exercise routine or increase an old one. Our bodies flood sore muscles with water to help cushion and heal them, which can mask any fat loss that's going on.
