Keep eating too much

I overeat during stressful times. Like now i have exams coming up.

Im overweight. Need to lose 57lbs to get to a healthy bmi.

I derail on 2000 calories. Just cant seem to control myself at the moment with food.

Any one with similar experiences?

I think im at a dip atm. In the summer im going to rock.

    Hi - I have been there many times. Feeling powerless but one thing that will help is to remind yourself every day that you control your mind and body. They don't control you. Say it every morning.
    For the last week starting last Sunday I made a goal for myself which was to stick to a 1200 calorie diet everyday with the same meals with little variations (sometimes sent over to 1350 calories in practise) and to attend a gym class. I challenged myself to stick to this routine for merely 7 days. I am on the 7th day. I have had bad and good days and I record my thoughts after weighing myself at the gym on my phone and literally talk to myself about how I am feeling. You can write your feelings down if you like. This will help you stay in tune with yourself and your emotions and also help you get back up after the dips.

    Also start by lowering calories to 1700 and slowly make changes.

    I have a huge problem overeating. I recently saw a psychologist to help deal with it. She suggested slowing down and chewing food slowly and taking 20 to 30 min to eat and do not go for seconds. So far it's been helping me.

    Is 2000 calories the amount MFP suggests you eat to lose? How fast are you expected to lose on that amount (2lb/wk, 1.5 lb/wk)? Perhaps the calorie amount is too low for you and you need to lose slower.

    Is there another activity you can substitute for overeating when stressed? Every time you feel stressed, go for a walk or bike ride or telephone a friend or write in a journal instead of eating.

    If you really can't do that and want to keep eating when stressed, substitute lower calorie foods. Make yourself a big plate of celery, carrot, and cucumber sticks. Munch on those instead.

    Plan out your daily menu so you're getting a good variety of nutrients. Make sure you have plenty of fat and protein to keep you satiated.

    Same with me I just graduated and for two years I've been fighting on and off diets to lose this weight and get out the 300s today I'm 296 and things are looking up keep working don't make a bad day of eating turn into a bad week u hot this think sexy sexy body!

    As suggested above, try shopping for - and eating - healthy snacks instead of junk food. Instead of dieting off and on, modify your food choices, eat less, exercise more and drink lots of water. There's no magic bullet and there's no time like the present. You can do it!

    Eat on a schedule and eat the same foods every day for a while. It worked well for me. Don't include your trigger foods! If you're craving something keep your hands busy. It really works. I started crocheting just so I could pick it up when I was dying to eat something. After about 10 minutes the craving completely goes away.
