Vacation!

We're leaving in a couple hours! We're staying at a resort in the North Cascades - the only place to stay indoors within the park. It's a group of floating cabins on the big lake. We're going to hike a mile to get there, with all our food for the next week. There's no internet or phone reception or TV; entertainment comes from the hiking trails, canoes and kayaks, and great swimming. Bet I'll lose five pounds by the time I come home.

Woohoo, have a great time. Post pics.
Need weight reports when you return.
I bet 6.5 and you owe me a micro brew amber ale if I win.
Cheers, h.3 -
Have a great time. It's nice it's only a short stroll of a mile so you can always go get more food if you need to.2

Ok, I'm back, and I have some pics to share.
If the bathroom scale is to be believed, I weighed 5.5 lbs more when I left than when I returned. I ate a lot, but spent most of my time out and about. We hiked in, set our stuff down, and got canoes.
The weather was temperamental. We had clouds through the first three days, they would clear up at night though. Here's a sunset.
This is the cabin we stayed in - the one on the left. It's one of the two smallest cabins they have.
Here's me fighting our way through a log jam in Devils Creek.
Then the weather started to improve. We woke up to blue skies, and choppy water, pushed by an icy wind.
I came to swim, but it was too cold for that. I got my feet into the water, it was painful. So I wound up doing my first trail run instead. Rough times on the way to the trail.
I ran from the Devils Creek bridge to Devils Junction. I got there faster than I'd hoped, kept going until Tenmile Island, and turned back. It was fun! I had no idea running could be so enjoyable. Here's what the trail mostly looked like.
There were some peak-a-boo views of the lake and surrounding peaks, but having taken a boat up, they weren't so impressive. Here's a selfie driving the boat back to the cabin.
Have to post one more. I hiked over the dam. That's the color of the water, from the glaciers. The big lake has a hint of that color when the sun hits it at the right angle, especially in shallower water.
