Any advice or tips on sticking to your diet during special events, family dinners and outings? I been doing really well all month long but, for the first time since I started my calorie count is in the negative :s Today being Father's Day my diet felt like it was nonexistent whatsoever!

If I know ahead of time that I'll be going out to eat/to an event, I'll save up calories in the days leading up to it and eat lighter the morning/afternoon of. That way even if I'm going over that day, I'll still be in a deficit for the week.

Whenever I know I'm going out for a special dinner, party, etc. I will eat low carb/low fat/high protein meals earlier in the day. I've celebrated 3 family birthdays and Father's Day dinner this month. I'm surprisingly down 1 lb. this morning after eating a big meal out last night. It was a locally owned restaurant with NO nutrition info and I must have overestimated all of my macros lol

Enjoy the holidays, and make the choice

-Log it and forget it, continue on your normal days afterwards
-Prepare for these events by having a few less calories in the days leading up to it
-After the event, reduce your calories for a few days the way you would to prepare before if desired
-Find the determination to stick to your portion control during the events, probably the hardest to do

no matter what you choose dont beat yourself up over enjoying a day with your family and friends.

Once certain holidays or special events I don't worry about it but that's a handful of times a year. Other than that, I stop and consider what foods there are, how often I get them, and if I really like them enough to spend calories on them. I treat my calorie budget like a money budget (Is this worth the money/calories?) and find that works for me.

Whenever possible, find out ahead of time generally what foods will be served, or if at a restaurant check the menu online and plan all you can. Try to track ahead of time some choices and portions that you may eat so you have some idea where your calorie count may end up. Tweak your food log as needed throughout the event. Keep your phone app with you, be aware and keep track.
