Are diaries set to public viewable in Android app?

Simple question. My diary is set to public. Someone mentioned they couldn't view it from their phone. I know online that it is viewable from a desktop browser. Can Android users view it without friending? Heck, what about Apple users?
Edit
Well this part of the forum isn't where I meant to put this... smh

Nope. You can only view friends' diaries that are open to you on the apps.1

Ah, gotcha. One of those settings that sort of works as advertised.0

I once got chastised on here for giving advice while having my diary set to private! My diary is public, this buffoon just tried viewing it from his phone!1

Really?? What's the point if you can't use a phone? I have mine on public, too and figure if someone can't be bothered to read it before asking me dumb questions, I'm not bothering to discuss my diet. I assumed "public" meant...err...public. As in everyone.
Why would MFP make it work only for the few people who still use "desktops"?1 -
Yes, I can view any user's Diary that is set as public from an Android phone (I am using ver 4.8 still).
If another user has posted in Community, find one of their comments and tap on the username, which will bring up the "Send a Message / Ignore" Community page. Tap the username on that to bring up the user's Profile Page. If there is a "View Diary" button, tap on View Diary to go to the user's Diary.
My Diary is open; try opening mine.

When I view your user Profile, I get a "View Diary" button. I wonder if it works on my Android phone because I am using an older version of MFP (ver 4.8)? That is the only difference I can think of. I checked my Settings and my Diary is set to Public and my Privacy Settings are all set to Everyone.
Edited to add: I checked the Help page and there are no known issues.
@Alex @Betty Is this a known issue? Is there a difference between Android versions that allows me to view other user's Public Diaries, but later Android version users can not?1 -
I used to be able to see them on my phone but not anymore. I assumed I lost it in an update at some point, on purpose or not, who knows?1

Maybe it's the only bone they throw us.1 -

I doubt it. Look how old timey they make it to post photos.
But seriously....I do use a large tablet or my phone....but they're both still mobile. I'd have to take my Chromebook to the Gym to access desktop features, I suppose. I'm pretty sure they'd throw me out of the locker room for that. Fitbit is just as bad with their app and they sell a wareable arm device. You'd think "mobility" would be priority for them. It's really strange.1 -

I open the full MFP desktop site on my mobile Android phone whenever I have to do something I can only do on the web version. When you use the Chrome browser on an Android mobile device, tap the three dot icon on the top right of the Chrome app and then tick Request desktop site and then navigate to myfitnesspal.com.1 -

I'm on version 6.17. I always update when a new one comes out.1 -

Wait ... What?! You can't give advice if you have a private diary? That doesn't sound right.1 -

I said something like if you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk. Someone was giving advice about clean eating blah blah, and i mentioned that their diary was locked. Then another member came swooping in jumping on me for having my diary set to private yada yada, and accused me of being a hypocrite. But he was on his phone, so couldn't view my diary.

@CyberTone, after some more digging it appears that around the same time Android user lost the ability to post images from the app easily, we also lost the functionality to view public, non-friend dairies.0
