On Mondays we kill our legs!

Been here since 5:30am & I'm still going. Who else is getting it in with me this morning? My motivation is that I'm not where I am supposed to be. I swore in January that this was my year & I would get ripped. Well we are half way through the year & I still look like this. I haven't been this heavy in over 4 years & I get very down on myself about it. But I am trying to channel that sadness into motivation to stay on track. Im the only one stopping me from accomplishing what I want.

Yes I'm 5'4 & I used to be around 130 pounds & very defined. Now I'm almost 150 with a layer of fat covering my muscles.

Not at all. I just know how I used to & can look. I don't want to settle for this.0 -

I totally get it. However, statements like "I get very down on myself about it" coupled with stating that you've been at the gym since 5:30 am "killing your legs" and wrote the OP a little after 7am leads me to believe you have very little love for yourself. Not trying to be a jerk, but you look great in your pic even if you've been "better."4 -

Killing your legs is an expression that a lot of people use when talking about a certain workout. "Killing shoulders" "Killing arms" whatever. It's not to be taken literal. Just means I am pushing myself & giving it my all. I work out early because my energy is better then. I don't see how any of this is a bad thing? Lol. And I am not claiming to be morbidly obese or even overweight. I just know how hard I worked to get to where I was really happy with how I looked & I'm disappointed that I let that go. I love myself & that's why I take care of my body with proper nutrition & exercise. I stopped doing that for a long time which is why I am where I am now. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to better myself.3 -

On Monday's I go for a run first thing and then chill for the rest of the day. I'd never say I was killing it, although my PT does occasionally tell me I'm smashing it when I've got through a particularly tough session. Tomorrow I'll be smashing trail running, then Thursday I'll be smashing bench and deadlifts, full body workouts for me every time, feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck that way.1

That sounds like an amazing workout! I am not good at running at all. So I admire those who can do it.

Firstly, you look awesome but I get what you are saying. I work out @ 05:30 as well.
Unfortunately all the squat racks were taken this morning so it was shoulders. I'll kill my legs tomorrow.
You are doing awesomely.0 -

I killed legs yesterday morning, Vampire Crew FTW! This morning, I did cardio to help with soreness and because...I never do cardio...
Thought about doing stairmaster for 30minutes and only lasted ten because I got bored. I don't know how people enjoy zoning out and doing cardio for extended periods of time. Lifting weights and staying mentally engaged is the only way I've personally found long-term success.
(I did finish up with 20min on incline treadmill watching What Not To Wear, so I think we're doing ok for a Monday )1 -

That sounds amazing! I need to build up my endurance on the stairs. I hate them with a passion, so I rarely do them. Any tips on making myself stay on longer?1 -

I REALLY dislike cardio so I take my tablet and watch series. It is still challenging but it takes the mind numbing monotony out of it.1 -

hahaha well, I'm not the one to ask! I'm generally accident prone so sticking with "just one more minute" ten times was all I could muster today. I've honestly been more successful mentally, doing more conditioning (sled pushes, kettlebell swings, farmers' carry) vs proper cardio...I know people say you just have to practice extending yourself mentally bit by bit. Maybe next time I'll do eleven "just one more minutes"0 -
It's NOT the workout that's going to make the difference. It's your diet. You just have to eat less than you're doing now. I know it sounds simple, but being strict and consistent for 12-16 weeks, you'll definitely see the difference.

I think you look great! But I know the feeling of not being your leanest self.. I am working on it myself and just trying to get lean for summer plus trying to balance all the events that the weekends bring. It is a challenge.
I am working legs today, but I pretty much work them every time I'm in the gym. They don't like me very much these days1 -

I watch "What Not to Wear" whenever I do cardio! It really makes the time go quicker, although I am at the point where I've seen a lot of the episodes.
ETA: OP, I think you look great; however, I can certainly understand how you feel because I feel the same way.2 -

That's the problem. I know I need to be more consistent with my diet. Once I can do that I know bigger changes will come.

Why did you let it go?[/quote]
Went through a bad ankle injury that kept me off my feet for awhile, then went through some serious issues in my personal life that took up all my time & energy. Lost my focus & myself for about a year.

I think most women would kill to have a body like yours...your stomach looks pretty flat...in my opinion. You must be doing something right :-)1

This is how I'm feel. I'm 5'10 and weight 177. I'm at my heaviest although most people think I am thin. I used to weight between 145-150. My goal weight is 145 but I will be happy with 150.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Try not to focus on results but the facts you are in the gym 6 months later..... I call that progress1
