Not eating daily calories

Hi,

I'm 6'1, 77kg, 18, female, active daily (one or two gym sessions depending on classes etc). So I'm within my healthy weight range but would ideally like to be around 72kg as I believe that will put me at a comfortable weight where I do not carry so much fat (currently sorting out the old skinny fat situation!). However, I'm finding it IMPOSSIBLE to eat my daily recommended calories. My fitness level is set on lightly active as my job involves 3/4 miles of walking a day on top of normal activity and I add any calories from workouts etc. It usually gives me around 2000 calories a day for a 0.5kg/week weight loss. However, I can barely bring myself to eat enough and end up with 500-700 calories a day left at the end. If I try and eat more, I feel lethargic and unmotivated and to be honest as a student I simply cannot afford to be buying hunks of healthy protein dense foods... I also really dislike nuts! Is there anything I can do? Does it matter that much, especially with me wanting to lose mainly fat rather than weight in general?

Consistent undereating is not good. Once in a while is okay. How long have you been dieting and how much are you losing each week? At your size I wouldn't aim for more than one half to one pound per week on average (that's one fourth to one half kilogram.) If you are losing more than that after the first couple weeks, I'd aim to eat more. An easy way to up calories is to eat higher fat versions of what you already eat. Trade whole milk yogurt for fat free for example.
