Wouldn't you know it ... I was actually UNDERESTIMATING my food portions. I was worried without the food scale that i was doing the typical put too much food in the bowl. I weighed a few things based on what my normal portions were and found out that on a few things I thought would be about 200g, i was actually only around 120g.

Now this brings up the hard choice. Do I eat the other 80g or add in another snack.. hmm

I also found that I'd been underestimating.

The great thing for me about the food scale was that I realized that the suggested serving size was just that: a suggestion. My actual portion was completely within my control. I was free to eat half a serving or 0.83 of a serving or 1.37 of a serving or however much worked with my goals and desires for the day. I just set my MFP serving size to 1 gram and weigh out my chosen portion for that day without regard to how much the manufacturer suggests that I eat at one time.

I underestimate snap peas and overestimate baby carrots. You'd think I could get a handle on these as I eat them almost daily (and about the only veggies I do eat). Fortunately, being a little over on these is not a big deal, but I keep guessing, putting them on the scale and being off.

Good for you to get and use a scale. It's very useful and very educational.
