I know you don't get bulky right away when you start weight lifting, but in order to loose weight which is more recommendable

Controlling your calorie intake is more recommendable.

For exercise, find something that you enjoy, will do, and can be maintained long-term.

Both. Cardio tends to burn more calories, but you also want to retain muscle. Some will be lost along with the fat; that's nearly inevitable. But strength training will reduce the loss.

Check this out, especially #2: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

ETA: As the poster above me points out, calories are king when it comes to weight-loss. Exercise can give you a bigger deficit (and you should eat back some of those calories to fuel your increased activity) and improve your health, but people can and have lost weight just on calorie reduction alone.

This and add that a well rounded fitness program that includes strength and conditioning should be a concurrent goal to losing weight, not the means by which it is achieved. (In other words, your food intake controls weight, not necessarily how much you exercise or which exercises you do)
