Falling off the wagon

I had lost 30 pounds 2 years ago and was feeling great, but I gained 15 pounds living on campus this year. I'm feeling discouraged. How have you all dealt with falling off the wagon in the past?

I handled it badly, until I just stopped. Because I finally found my wagon (MFP, eating what I want, moderate portions, eat like a normal person, no fear of food, only enjoyment). 50 pounds lost, 2 1/2 years later I think they're gone for good. But every day brings new challenges.

I don't fall off the wagon. I look at those periods as diet vacations. It's like taking a break from your job to increase productivity when you come back. It's a little awkward to get started again, but it's back to normal in no time.

The fall is my kyptonite. Summer ends. Days get shorter. Outdoor activities are curtailed. Clothing get heavier. It's depressing and it makes me want to eat. Then we get hit with three big binging holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (which goes on for a week). It's amazing how much weight you can put on from Oct 31 to Jan 1!

So: Pick a day where you are going to "get serious." On that day, you are going to once again shelve all your bad habits for a while. Make a list and set some goals. I think it helps to include body and mind: pick some personal goals as well. (I'm always trying to read more and watch less TV, for example.) Best of luck!
