I am so excited and have been successful in my first week, loosing 4.9 lbs. This method is something I have no problem sticking to. Realizing throughout my day that I don't have to count anything and not deprive myself of the foods I enjoy is a huge victory for me. Knowing that I can still loose weight. So it's not messing with my emotions of feeling like a failure. The splurge day makes it easy for those parties, bbqs, and family gatherings. Its just a matter of looking at your week and seeing which day to use that splurge so it fits my lifestyle. I actually have hope of success with this method. Thank you so much.

When you say you don't need to count anything, how do you mean that? One meal a day or six meals a day makes little difference in the long run. If your one meal a day grows to be more calories than you burn in a day you will gain weight. One meal a day may work great for you, just as intermittent fasting works for others, but you'd be wise to keep a record of what you eat in that meal, i.e., to do the dreaded counting.

    Disagree.

Although MFP is primarily a calorie counting site, you don't need to count calories to lose weight. Yes you need to consume less than you burm but many do that without actually counting. So if the OMAD program is working and the OP is seeing results (5 lbs is mostly water weight in the first week), than just keep at it. If it starts to not work, then look to counting.

Won't work for me, but it does work for some. If the scale/tape/pictures show it's working then great.
