I am a 56 year old male and healthy. My weight is 183 pounds I want to get down to 175. After using Fitness Pal for 4 months and sticking to 1600 calories a day and a sedentary lifestyle not lost 1 pound period my weight will fluctuate by 5 lb but it always comes back to around 183.

Any help would be appreciated thank you. George

Get a scale to weigh your food to get more accurate calorie info. It's really easy to eat 2 or 3 times the amount of calories you think you're eating.

The great thing is that you have found your maintenance! That 5 lb fluctuation on the scale is normal for a maintenance range.

Since it's highly unlikely that your maintenance calories are 1600, you are consuming more calories than you think you are.

    To reduce your weight:
    • Drop one of your snacks (if you eat snacks)
    • Reduce your portion sizes slightly
    • (best option) Purchase an inexpensive digital food scale, weigh everything you consume accurately, and log it using accurate database entries.

    Hope that helps!

    Digital food scale weigh everything.

    Track everything.

Measuring jug for caloried drinks. If you drink alcohol that's where lots people go wrong not measuring tracking.

Carbs how many are you eating as I've aged carbs effect my weightloss.

Tape measure is your friend you could be 160lbs a size 10 or 185lbs a size 10 scales don't really indicate success.

Medication can hinder as water retention.

    Hormones ?

What are you eating more unprocessed food sometime help with weightloss keep you full.

How much exercise are you doing ?

    Water intake ?

    Sleep ?
