female, 21, 5'5'', 155 pounds.

It is summer vacation and I have been going to the gym for an hour every day, taking advantage of no classes. I hurt my knee and have been told to take it as easy as possible for a couple weeks and no gym for a month :/

My usual goals are 1400 cals, 40:40:20 for protein:carbs:fat

For a sudden drop in activity like that should I lower my calories? I feel very uncomfortable eating so many calories when I'm not moving all day, and I seem to have gained after 5 days of barely moving and eating 1400. Seriously, my fitbit said I took about 300 steps yesterday. Before that I was usually above my goal of 10,000. But each step hurts alot so I'm trying to listen to the doc and be still. =[

Even sedentary your body burn 1836 calories a day doing average run of the mill activities.

So eating 1400 calories a day with no exercise will still give you a daily deficit of 1836-1400= 436 calories. That's still really close to 1lb a week.

I'm not doing avg, run of the mill activities right now bc my meniscus or something is all messed up and the doctor said the more immobile my knee is the sooner it will heal and the sooner I can get on with my life. My activities include walking between bed, bathroom, kitchen, and couch this week.

This crap is more comatose than sedentary. I guess it's only a couple weeks.

See what your fitbit says, and eat 500 calories less or so.

No, don't drop your calories any lower.

Why don't you switch focus to upper body and core strengthening? You could also do deadliest which don't require you to bend your knees.
