I'm looking for info on digestion and energy release for carbs, protein and fat.

Say I eat a meal consisting of all three at 09:00. How long does it take for those three things to get digested? At what point, and for how long do they provide energy?

Thanks a lot.

Your question is a difficult scientific one that needs more specifics for any answers to have validity. Digestion, for example, has many definitions and it is not digestion that creates energy. Digestion converts the food we eat into compounds the body can use, some of them to create energy, and discards waste. It is not as easy as saying, "It takes 37 hours for fat we consume to become energy."

Yes, you are right. I did a bit more searching and realized that my question doesn't make much sense.

I was wondering what would happen to energy levels of someone who cannot digest fats properly. I thought most carbs provide energy fairly quickly, and proteins and fats need a bit longer. But I feel like I'm not getting anywhere with it. Also absorption seems to depend a lot on the size of the molecule, with meats having fairly large molecules compared to other food.
