Why do people say weight training prevents loose skin?

How? Muscle build up? Even so, you would need to gain a lot of muscle to cover loose skin if you are like 150lbs overweight.
I ask because i have about 90-100lbs to loose for a six pack.

People say a lot of stuff that is wrong.
Adding muscle after you lean out will improve your look but weight training does not prevent loose skin. The only way to prevent loose skin is to not gain weight or to not lose weight once you have gained it.
If you have 90-100 pounds to lose, you are likely going to have some loose skin. Keep in mind that loose skin often only shows when you are in certain positions (e.g., planking) or if you pull it out. It's not necessarily large swaths of skin, though that does happen with some people.5 -
Loose skin is genetic and based on your body's make up of collagen and other factors that make up the elasticity of your skin. How heavy you are, how log you've been that way, and what your goals are will all play into your final results.
Some people don't care about the loose skin. I am one of them. They would rather have loose skin over a rocking strong body than just loose skin. Again, I'm one of them. Strength training while you lose the weight helps maintain the muscle you have so that you don't have to try to gain muscle once you lose the weight. For me, it seems pretty counter intuitive to work my rear off to lose 90-100 pounds (my goal from my highest starting weight) and then have to fight to gain muscle I had before so I have a nice amount of muscle again.
Frankly it's a choice only you get to make. If you don't want to strength train, don't. There are a many roads that lead to weight loss so it's up to you to choose the one that you like the best.2 -

The thing is if you dont weight train while losing weight you may end up looking skinny fat because you arent maintaining the lean muscle you have if you were weight training.you also dont have to work your rear off to do it either. enough protein and weight lifting/resistance training is whats needed. Im sure even 30 min 4-5 times a week would be plenty.also the faster you lose weight the more it seems loose skin can come into play for many.0 -

to get a 6 pack you need to get down to a low percentage of body fat and for some even at that low percentage may only show a 2 pack,for some it may show more muscle for some it will just be a little definition. you wont know until you lose the weight/fat unless you had a visible 6 pack at one point1
