Extra Large Eggs

I bought extra large eggs by mistake instead of the large eggs. Something doesn't seem right.

According to the database:

Eggs - White only, raw - 1 large = 17 cal

but

Generic - Extra Large Egg White - 1 egg white = 35 cal

How can that be when a whole large egg is 70 calories, and a whole extra large egg is 80 calories???

Anyone ever actually weighed out an extra large egg white? Maybe I'll just have to do that tomorrow morning.

Does the carton have the Nutritional Info on it? Our's does but they arent jumbo so I can't help much with that.

Any food database entries I doubt, I look up on the web. Nutritiondata.com usually comes up, and I trust what it says. I then edit the entry on here, if it is not correct.

Go to the national usda database - http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

Enter egg and then look up raw egg, it has all the different sizes. Says 72 for a large egg and 80 for a jumbo. The calories in foods are not always correct in here...............after all, it is just people entering the info...............lol.

Yeah, the carton says a whole egg is 80 calories also.

The thing is, I usually have one whole egg with two egg whites. The calorie information for just the white is what I'm trying to figure out. I'll just weigh one tomorrow and use that value until these are gone and go back to the regular size.

    Thanks everyone for your replies.
