what: I just finished part 1 of 6 of Jason Fung, M.D. (a nephrologist/kidney specialist whose patients are often dealing with obesity and/or diabetes, as well as kidney function) Intensive Dietary Management presentation "The Aetiology of Obesity: A New Hope." Fung has bee widely interviewed by IF & Keto enthusiasts, but I prefer going back to the science without the filters.

why this is of interest to me: #1 I am exploring intermittent fasting.

#2 I also want to answer my family's questions, as they are beginning to notice the subtle change in my food choices (1.e. far less carbs).

#3 Although I have managed to not to crack the BMI range into obesity, I find many of the same principles apply--especially when I consider my past craving for a high-carb diet executed wholly within the health-food realm! My childhood diet was high in processed foods (think instant potatoes, canned vegetables) and starch carbs (box cereal, pasta) due to a large family-modest income strategy.
