Burned Calories - MyFitnessPal vs MapMyRun

Maybe I'm just not reading the apps on my cell phone correctly but it seems like MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun calculate burned calories differently. I thought they were both UnderArmour apps so would expect the calculation logic to be the same but apparently not. I believe I've set up both profiles the same but as an example (these numbers are exact but representative) on the MapMyRun app when I complete a 50 minute walk at a 12.5 minutes/km pace it will say I burned 484 calories. I then go into MyFitnessPal and enter a 50 minute walk at 12.5 minutes/km it says I burned 340 calories. Why the difference and which one is more accurate?

Probably neither are very accurate. If you are looking for accuracy use an HRM. Probably the difference in the MFP & MMR apps would be the MMR app is taking into account your varying pace and any elevation changes where MFP is just generic pace time. Just a thought.2

Same here. I use mapmyrun to check mileage and I'm Let's surprised at the difference. Easily 35% more calories burned.0

MayMyRun/Walk way over estimate. So does MFP. I'd just use MFP for the calories burned and eat back half of them0
